My experience in the industry:

I grew up in a hair salon - it's second nature to me. I started doing bridal hair and make-up on a whim while working at a salon in Queens in 2000. Professionally, I have completed my Master Color Certification through Wella and have studied and practiced haircutting and hair coloring at The Studio San Francisco and The Studio New York City. My make-up artistry skills have been fine-tuned through education with MAC Cosmetics and Kett Cosmetics and have taken various courses at The Makeup Shop. My work focusing in bridal hair and make-up is well recognized throughout the tri-state area and has been published and acclaimed in various trade magazines such as NJ Bride, Inside Weddings, and Bridal Star Hairstyles and www.nymag.com.

What I do at pink comb:

I started at Pink Comb as an assistant in November 2008. After being a stylist for 4 years prior, it was hard for some to understand why I was taking what seemingly was a step backward. I knew from the minute I walked into Pink Comb that if I didn't take whatever job that was being offered. I would miss out on an amazing opportunity. I am now a stylist at Pink Comb and I am also part of the bridal business. I provide all hair services from cuts, color and highlighting to special occasion styling.

My Education:

I studied cosmetology at Empire Beauty School in Cherry Hill, NJ.

Favorite Foods:

My current food obsession is guacamole and chips, hold the cilantro and bring on the margaritas!

Favorite Place Visited:

I haven't had the chance to travel as often as I'd like. When the time comes the first place I would go is Tel Aviv, Israel.

Favorite Quote:

Maryann

MaryAnn

Maryann began her hairdressing career by attending Capri Institute of Hair Design while a senior in high school in 1975. She attended part time in the evenings hoping to fall into her career once she graduated from high school in 1976. While in beauty school she met her first husband and together they opened their own salon, Carmelo's Hair Design in Oakland NJ. Having her first child, Michelle. They managed and worked hard together to get the business off the ground, but once it was established she left hairdressing for a while to become a stay at home mom. She still continued to do clients in her parents home, living there while their home was being built. During this time Maryann was involved with the business end of the salon doing the bookeeping and payroll. When Michelle's vision of Pink Comb became reality she was delighted when asked to be a part or her daughters dream.

You will find Maryann on Saturdays, doing anything from answering phones, to cleaning, to doing laundry. to even helping out with a manicure or pedicue when needed. Her biggest accomplishment however is her 3 beautiful, brilliant, smart daughters, who have lived out all of the dreams that she never got to do herself, but is enjoying every minute of the journey.
